Why this fair matters
The Others was created for young galleries, artist-run spaces, collectives and non-profits. Its fifteenth edition runs from 29 October to 1 November 2026 at Turin’s Parcheggio Lancia, where the new venue makes spatial choices part of every project.
History and identity
The Others debuted in 2011 inside Turin’s former Le Nuove prison, choosing unconventional buildings and organisations often excluded from rigid fair circuits: young galleries, artist-run spaces, collectives and non-profits. It later moved through Torino Esposizioni and the ILO before reaching the Parcheggio Lancia in 2026. The venue is more than scenery: each edition tests how artworks, performances and installations inhabit a place with a specific memory.
Major fair or independent ecosystem?
The Others belongs to Turin Contemporary Art Week and runs on the same calendar as Artissima. It is neither an Artissima section nor its cheaper copy. Artissima selects international galleries within a more institutional structure; The Others works with edges, hybrid formats and younger organisations. Visiting both reveals different levels of the system and helps determine whether an artist appears in a temporary project or within sustained gallery representation.
Artists to look for
Samantha Torrisi, Laura Fridman and Carlos Enfedaque offer three paths through ArteriA’s programme. The aim is not a ranking, but an understanding of how painting, image and installation change inside a small organisation or curatorial collaboration.
How to buy carefully
Ask who legally sells the work, issues the invoice and preserves the archive if the project is temporary. For video and performance, verify edition, carrier, certificate, exhibition rights and reinstallation instructions.
