Martin Bertelmann’s solo exhibition runs at Curva Pura, Rome, from 10 September to 8 October 2026, with a critical text by Nicoletta Provenzano. Photography and video connect perception, apparatus, memory and digital circulation.
Who is Martin Bertelmann?
Born in Riesa in 1990, Bertelmann works between sculpture and photography. He trained as a bookbinder, graduated from HfBK Dresden in 2024 in Wilhelm Mundt’s class and is a master student of Alicja Kwade.
Landscape and machine vision
His black-and-white photographs examine landscapes changed by human action. Himmel ohne Gedächtnis pairs cloud photographs made over Iraq shortly before missiles crossed the same sky.
Curva Pura in Rome
Active since 2014, Curva Pura is an independent experimental space. Sources connect Andrea Romagnoli with its artistic direction, Vittorio Beltrami with its history and management, and Nicoletta Provenzano with recurring curatorial and critical projects.
