A marketplace of galleries

Artsper aggregates offers from galleries and professional sellers. The same signature may appear in many listings with different currencies, conditions and provenances. Begin with “who sells this particular copy and with which documents?” rather than price alone.

Street art and visual culture have produced many editions. Access expands, but distinctions between signed print, poster, multiple, HPM, artist’s proof and unique work become essential. Similar images may describe economically different objects.

Fairey, JR and Hom Nguyen: public budgets

Shepard Fairey appeared with prints from about $299 to above $4,800; Wave of Distress was near $308 while Knowledge + Action exceeded $1,200. Publisher, year, edition and condition matter.

JR listed Private Island near €720, with other editions observed around €950–2,390. An iconic photograph is not enough: format, printing process, copy number and signature must be legible.

Hom Nguyen listed Human Blue near €1,800 in a stated edition of fifty. Its 231,280 stitches are an interesting technical fact, while value and conservation also depend on support and mounting.

Checking an edition before payment

Request a photograph of number and signature, publisher, total edition including proofs, sheet and image dimensions, process, frame and condition report. Secondary works also require prior provenance.

Compare the exact same edition. A lower price may reflect condition, frame, position in the edition, currency or seller urgency. Listings with different data are not true comparables.

The role of editions in a portfolio

Editions can provide access to an established language at a contained price. Yet five prints from the same circuit in a €10,000 collection create concentration, not diversification. Balance techniques, artists and sales channels.

One structure combines a significant edition, a unique work by an emerging artist and liquidity for care and opportunities. The goal is a legible, documented collection, not an imitation of a financial index.
