Artfinder foregrounds original works and artists’ studios. This proximity makes it easy to request details, photographs and technical information, but it needs discipline: verify identity, career, materials and terms without mistaking a friendly conversation for due diligence.

The platform promotes handmade authenticity and global returns. Concrete terms still depend on the listing and destination: timings, courier, insurance, duties and packing should be understood before payment.

From £570 to £14,000: three different scales

Gennady Vylusk listed atmospheric landscapes such as Silence and Space near £570 and Between Worlds near £850. At this level, dimensions, support and image quality are decisive because a miniature and a large canvas are not equivalent.

Behshad Arjomandi showed a broad catalogue with examples from roughly $986 to above $3,200; Fantasy was near £1,029. A large archive reveals series and variation, but also asks the buyer to choose the strongest work, not the deepest discount.

Lilia Orlova-Holmes showed how physical scale changes the budget: a 160 × 180 cm painting was marked at £14,000. Transport, stretcher, access to the home and available wall become part of the purchase.

Authenticity and condition

The certificate should state title, year, medium, dimensions, image and signature. For unstretched canvas, ask whether a stretcher is included; paper works require information on acidity, fixatives and framing.

A short video in raking light helps reveal texture and relief. The invoice must identify work and seller. Images, certificate, correspondence and receipt form the dossier for a future owner.

Building a coherent nucleus

With €3,000, choose one strong painting or two smaller works connected by a question such as landscape, abstraction, portraiture or material. Coherence comes from the collector’s premise, not the algorithm.

Divide saved works into “love”, “researching” and “ready to buy”. Only the last category should have a confirmed total price, complete documents and a real place to live. This filter turns abundant supply into a useful shortlist.
